His musical contributions have included projects on Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, Amazon Prime, MTV, PBS, and Sky TV, and have screened at festivals including Sundance, Tribeca, Slamdance, and Dances with Film.
Renner's feature film and television credits include additional music composer and string arranger on the Rian Johnson-produced Netflix film "Fair Play", which premiered to critical acclaim at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, and additional music composer, arranger, and orchestrator on the Sky Television/Hulu series "Das Boot" (the sequel to the iconic 1981 film), which won the 2022 Hollywood Music in Media Award for "Best Score for a Foreign TV Series", and which has received 9 German Television Academy nominations including 2 for "Best Music". His credits also include composing and producing the scores for the 2023 feature film "Screwdriver" from Buffalo 8 Productions, Sterling Macer Jr.'s 2020 thriller feature film "Double Down", and Alexandra Swarens' heartfelt 2021 drama "Spring".
In 2023, he worked as an additional music arranger and music editor on Alden Ehrenreich's directorial debut Shadow Brother Sunday, produced by Francis Ford Coppola, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. And in 2019 he was nominated for a Jerry Goldsmith Award for the song "Underwater" which he performed and co-composed for the feature film "The Tobacconist". Renner also worked as an additional arranger, programmer, and orchestrator on the film's score, which received an Austrian Academy Award nomination for "Best Score".
In the podcast and audio drama world, Renner composed and produced the score for the Podcast Academy Award-nominated full-cast audio fiction series "The Madness of Chartrulean". And as a music consultant, he worked on the Peabody Award-winning episode of PBS Frontline, "Michael Flynn's Holy War".

In addition to his feature film and television work, Renner has scored dozens of short narrative, documentary, and animated films including Jenna Caravello's award-winning short animated film "Frontier Wisdom," which screened at Slamdance 2019, her short film "More Than Binary", created for the United Nations' "He for She" project supporting global gender equality, and Rezistor Films' horror short "A Perfect Circle", winner of the Audience Award at The Method Fest Los Angeles.
Renner's most recent solo work, "Flora", was featured on Colorado Public Radio's Open Air music sampler and The Denver Post's "Steal This Track". "Flora" collects four double-sided singles that each represent a distinct period of Renner's time spent living in Colorado from 2010 to 2016. With "Flora", Renner places his ethereal vocal stylings at the forefront, surrounding them with spacious, manicured electronic-organic music that puts him comfortably in the vein of other downtempo electronic, and indie R&B artists like James Blake, Little Dragon, and Lykke Li. Flora creates a sonic environment that is warm and inviting, and that shines an intimate light into Renner's world. Music from Renner's previous albums has been featured in a number of films and television series including MTV's "Catfish: The TV Show" and MTV's "True Life".
On stage, Renner has created an uncompromising loop-based performance with over 160 shows throughout the United States and Canada, in which he single-handedly brings to life the distinctive vocal styling and electronic production he skillfully manicures on his records.
Sean Renner is based in Los Angeles, California and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Music Composition & Performance from the Herb Alpert School of Music at California Institute of the Arts.
